Production Schedule

NOTE: all of these time periods and whatnot are verrrry approximate, most of all the backgrounds and rough animation. but.... yes. it will get finished. :)

also, here is my reworked script-thinger.

Sound Effect

Action

1. Jumping rope sfx

Long Shot pan across a garden in early spring (mostly gray, but a bit of green beginning to show in the grass and leaves) at the end of the pan, a little girl is jumping rope along the path and onscreen.

2. jumping stops, panting

robin twitter

Med. Close of the girl, she stops jumping, leans on her knees and pants a bit

Mary hears the robin and looks around for him

3. More twittering, footsteps

Longer Shot of Mary from up in a tree, the robin hops onto a branch on screen so we see him from the back, Mary sees and steps towards the tree as the robin hops onto the garden wall

4. footsteps

Med./long Mary from the back, the robin is hopping on the wall

5. twittering

Close on the robin, he hops about as he twitters (like he’s talking to Mary)

6. Continue twittering, laughter

Close Mary laughs as she watches the robin

7. twittering

Med. Close Robin hops some more, flies off the wall

8. Twittering/laughing, footsteps

Long Mary steps back as the robin takes off, then gives chase; he flies around the corner of the wall and she follows

9. Twittering and footsteps, low piping music

View into the garden path from a doorway onto the moor. we see the robin fly past and soon Mary follows; she passes the doorway completely, but then turns back and peeks around the doorway

10. Piping music

Long View out onto the moor- short pan across to a tree where a boy is sitting with his back to us, playing the flute. A few animals are around listening

11. Piping music

Close of a squirrel climbing down a tree over the boy’s head; the ground where a few other animals are is in view

12. Footstep

Med. Mary steps softly through the doorway but her step makes a sound and she gasps a little

13. Music stops

The animals look up, and the boy raises a hand, “shh,” but kindly. He puts his hand down and begins to stand up, very slowly

14.

Side med. View of Mary, she blinks a couple times, a bit confused or surprised

15. Rustle of animals

Back on Dickon, he is very slowly standing, then finally stands straight; the animals start to go, but not in a scared way

16. Rustle of animals

Med./close of animals leaving , rabbit hopping away

17. Short laugh

Close Backview of Dickon, he turns towards Mary and smiles/laughs

18.

Close on Mary, she still looks surprised, then slowly smiles back.

lady wasting time on the bridge

that's what she told me the title was. but i didn't draw a bridge. so maybe it's a spiritual bridge, a hypothetical bridge, a musical bridge. or an invisible bridge. i have no idea. only that's what she said.

...drew her during 20th century art history...

rope jumping

the second of the rotoscoping projects. got the original video off of youtube, since there were no little girls who are good at jumping rope handy. :P hm... well, perhaps i COULD animate someone jumping rope by hand... or, i could just be creative with the opening pan shot... >_>

animalopolis

went to the jacksonville zoo with CAS last saturday... got some good sketches. and photos and footage. :) and also that one at the end is from sketch club last week, i forgot to post it before.

happy birthday nick

for a friend. some funny doodles of a character from a project of his. :)

colorism

hah. :) colored. sooo the first version had the colored outlines, but it took so long because i'm a perfectionist... so, no colored outlines in the animation. i decided to do brown for mary (see image)- dickon will probably be dark green, and the robin probably gray. so, there will be colored outlines. technically. :)

TUTUMAN

my rotoscoped walk cycle of that really old and glitchy walk cycle that isn't correct and when clocked to 30 fps goes reeeaaally fast. starring tutu-man.

more mary

profile sketches. and i still haven't finished drawing the backview. :P the front view i'm currently coloring in photoshop with color outlines, the 3/4 will be inked and watercolored, and the side and everything else will be inked. actually, i've inked 4 facial expressions already. ^_^ yaaaaaaay lightbox.

favorite animation news websites

tons. lots are just news websites, but i also keep a lot of individual artist's blogs bookmarked too.
here's some news ones:

http://www.cartoonbrew.com --#1 the best.
http://www.theanimationblog.com --#2 the best.
http://www.jimhillmedia.com --(this one's mostly gossip, but sometimes you find a good tip here and there, and floyd norman posts stuff occasionally too)
http://animationpodcast.com/ --wheee! podcast interviews! lately they've been posting interviews with james baxter. :)

***ALSO, rest in peace Ollie Johnson. the end of an era, and the world will never be the same. *cries*

drew this giraffe for the CAS poster this week in less than 5 minutes. ^_^
i didn't realize till after i posted it that there were some problems with my jumping cat clip, so here it is again fixed.

listing

nearly finished with the turn-around drawings of mary. the front, 3/4 and side are all drawn but i still need to draw the back. i also started some more facial expressions, but since i don't REALLY need them i might not finish them. depends on how much time i end up with. and then once i finish them i'll xerox them and ink them, and blah blah blah et cetera. i don't have the drawings scanned yet, or i'd post them here.

since it can be rather annoying to get to monty from where i live down at the dorms, i think i might draw my keyframes right over my background sketches with pencil and paper on my lightbox, and proceed to animation here on the cintique. lots to do... including finishing up 3 more models for my digital form, space and lighting class by next monday and writing an essay for my 20th century art history class that's due tomorrow. tomorrow?! my, how time flies....

planning planning plans

some mary lennox expression sketches. the character sheet will probably be done once i finish the turn-around and get all the drawings inked and at least a couple colored. i'm working on the script right now, and will start on storyboards after that's finished.

i've been contemplating doing colored outlines for the animation, like the disney stuff before '61, but i don't know how hard that technique would be until i try animating something with it. i think i'll try it out on the rotoscoping exercise to see how it looks.

dang, and i was planning on inking the character sheet with FW and coloring with watercolor, too. :P hm. well, i'll have to do at least one drawing in photoshop then, for those colored outlines. yay, wacom. :)

bouncing ball 1

here is the first version of the bouncing ball, edited on keyframes.

flash past

the picture mode in this thing is really beginning to bug me. oh well. let's see if i can figure this out... aha, html editing. yessssss. *evil laughter* ok, here we go.

this is a watercolor i did back in high school, 2004. even though it's so old, i've never been able to find anything that i don't like about it. which is very strange.

i've always liked this poster design i did in 2006. my old high school commissioned it for their play. one of the few pieces i've done completely in photoshop, aside from the original sketch.

this was an environment design thinger for my drawing for storyboarding class last year.

from my life drawing 1 class at the end of last school year. SCAD bought this from me.

the first page of a silent comic for larison's intro to sequential class last quarter.

here's another from larison's class; a page from a story that i wrote and illustrated in watercolor. if you wanna read it all, here's the first page:

hm, may as well put up some for-fun stuff. a character design.

a color design for a friend's character. watercolor.

and hey, i'm an avid deviantart member. this is my page--

if you're on there too, if you tell me your username i'd love to come see your work. yes, i am very geeky. :)

tiny girl

a cute doodle i did during class. cintiq will take a little getting used to. :)

character kvetching

here are some drawings of Mary Lennox for the scene to be animated. they still need refining but i rather like how they turned out.
